About the role

At Vantage, the Head of Bermuda Casualty will be responsible for maintaining underwriting standards, driving underwriting quality, and balancing capital utilization across the different segments of business. This role reports to our Head of Casualty and is an in-person opportunity based in Vantage’s Bermuda office.

The base salary expectation for this role is between $275,000 and $330,000. The actual base salary and title for the selected candidate may be higher, commensurate with the candidate's experience and expectations. Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Produce and execute a business plan that demonstrates profitable results for Bermuda Casualty products.
  • Underwrite and develop a portfolio of Bermuda Casualty products, with quantified segmentation view.
  • Create a KPI driven review to manage and assess portfolio production and performance.
  • Lead a high performing Underwriting team, with an environment focused on wellness, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Collaboration and assist with review of pricing and exposure management.
  • Establishment and accountability of underwriting guidelines and standards.
  • Develop an executable Distribution strategy within the Bermuda and London Casualty markets.
  • Articulate the Vantage value proposition and maintain an in-depth knowledge of all products and services.
  • Collaborate with actuarial team and other stakeholders and colleagues to achieve goals.
  • Assist with creation and execution of growth strategies, by identifying areas of opportunity.
  • Provide exceptional service to our brokers and client partners.
  • Provides thought leadership and support to product initiatives.
  • Drive efficiencies and process improvements, with a data and technology focus.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of International Casualty experience, including handling lead and excess capacity in various industries including but not limited to construction, manufacturing, energy, transportation and miscellaneous industrial.
  • Bermuda Casualty Underwriting and Product acuity.
  • Superior experience in the casualty external market.
  • Established network of broker relationships within the Bermuda and London Casualty network.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, building, and stewarding a profitable casualty portfolio.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with Claims, Data, Analytics and Technology.
  • Proven experience partnering with Actuarial in the development and refinement of Casualty pricing tools.
  • Experience developing and launching new programs into the market space preferred.
  • P&L management and strategic planning experience.
  • Experience with digital platforms and driving results through automation.
  • Team player with outstanding interpersonal, negotiation and organizational influence skills; excellent stakeholder/relationship management skills and leadership behaviors.
  • Proven leadership experience with focus on growing and developing team members to drive for outstanding results and creating an inclusive environment.
  • Ability to process and adapt to change in a rapid growth new-company environment. Vantage associates are expected to be curious, thrifty, and resourceful to manage through the unknowns of growing a specialty (re)insurance business from the ground up.
