A care support organization in Gateshead is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to assist a woman with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. The role is part-time, involving 26 hours a week with day shifts and requires confident driving of an automatic vehicle. Responsibilities include personal care, moving assistance, and collaboration with Personal Assistants. Salary / Rate of Pay; £12.25
Contract;Fixed Hours, Part Time @ 26 hours per week.
Shift pattern(s) available; 2 x 13 hour shifts per week.
Day Shifts – 8am to 9pm, on a fortnightly rolling rota;
Essential Criteria; UK Driving Licence. The client has her own adapted van, which is an automatic vehicle, that staff are able to use. You must be a confident driver of automatic vehicles.
Person Specific Information; We are looking for experienced staff to support a lady with a long-term health condition, Spinal Muscular Atrophy. She will require support with moving and handling, personal care, and accessing the community. Her main interests are going shopping, going out for food, taking her son out and meeting friends. Although this lady does require 24/7 support, she is very independent with her decision making.
This is a really exciting opportunity for a dedicated team of staff to support this lady to look after her own young family. There will also be Personal Assistants present who will be there to provide 24/7 support to her baby. Although we will be not be given hands on direct care to the baby, we will support with the equipment that the Personal Assistant’s will use for the baby. We will ensure clear communication with her and work in partnership with the Personal Assistants to ensure support is consistent.
Comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with the necessary skills and any clinical training will be provided by our RGN / Clinical Educator.
