Shift Pattern

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday working on a rota between 08:00 – 21:30. Shifts are 12.5 hours with a one hour unpaid lunch break. You may be required to work outside these hours, including bank holidays, as per service and resident requirements.

About the Role

We are hiring a Support Coach to join our team based in Elephant and Castle. You will be based within an established Independent Approved Premises (IAP) commissioned by the Criminal Justice Service. You will support residents who have recently been released from prison and are moving into our residential accommodation, helping them to reintegrate into the community and reduce re‑offending rates. You will play a vital role in empowering residents to rebuild their lives and communities.

As a Support Coach you will identify resident needs and provide person‑centred, tailored support to help them overcome personal challenges and barriers, to achieve their goals. You will encourage engagement in activities, provide tools and resources for life skills, and ensure effective risk‑management protocols are in place in adherence to license conditions, with a focus on public protection. You will work as a team to meet service KPIs while striving for positive change.

You will continue to work in a trauma‑informed, psychologically safe environment that respects and responds to the needs of residents and staff. Our mission is to empower independence through trauma‑informed solutions and partnership, keeping people out of prison, hospital, and the streets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor residents’ wellbeing, conduct regular welfare checks, and respond to incidents or emergencies.
  • Engage with residents, building professional rapport to meet license conditions and facilitate community integration.
  • Create tailored support plans through one‑to‑one sessions, group sessions, and multi‑agency meetings.
  • Support residents in building skills and confidence to encourage independent living and reintegration post‑prison.
  • Plan and deliver activities to engage residents with others, communities, and opportunities, including days out and in‑service activities.
  • Focus on empowering residents to take control over their lives and meet personal goals.
  • Keep support plans updated on our online portals appropriate.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Understanding of the criminal justice system.
  • Experience working with people of different backgrounds, including complex cases.
  • Ability to engage and empower people to achieve personal goals.
  • Comfortable working with individuals who may have histories of behaviors leading to prison sentences.
  • IT proficiency, ability to learn new software, basic Microsoft experience.
  • Cultural and self‑awareness, willingness to accept feedback and identify personal growth areas.
  • Flexibility to work rotating patterns and respond to service needs.
