About the role

Our General Insurance team at DWF provides expertise in Casualty, Disease, Criminal Defence, EL/PL & RTA and is currently seeking a Junior Solicitor or Senior Paralegal to handle a varied caseload of litigated personal injury defender cases, under the supervision of Lynne Macfarlane, Partner and Solicitor Advocate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with partners to manage a caseload of high value claims, comprising a variety of defender EL/PL & RTA matters.
  • Draft pleadings, reports to clients, attend court hearings, work to court deadlines, progress liability investigations, gather evidence, instruct experts and consider interesting medical causation issues.
  • Prioritise work effectively to maximise efficiency, adhering to court deadlines, directions and client service level agreements.
  • Build working relationships internally and externally to develop business networks and gain a solid understanding of the firm’s direction and client needs.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 1 year PQE, preferable within Casualty, Disease, EL/PL, RTA or personal and serious injury.
  • Consider NQ candidates with an interest and experience in these areas.
  • Technical experience and a real interest in Employers Liability, Public Liability, RTA and catastrophic injury work.
  • Experience handling high value defender personal injury files, either independently or as an assistant to more senior team members.
  • Familiarity with working in a commercial environment.
