Solicitor - Commercial Property (Networks)
Geldards LLP is a leading regional law firm with offices in Cardiff, Derby, Nottingham and London. We are seeking a Solicitor to join our Commercial Property (Networks) team to support a diverse client base from our Nottingham office.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a key member of a large team to deliver deadline‑driven completion outputs.
- Deal with complex, high‑profile transactions.
- Proactively assist colleagues with matter queries and intervene where required.
- Gain confidence and trust of clients and colleagues.
- Act as a quality control champion.
- Act with honesty and integrity, as stipulated in the SRA Handbook and Code of Conduct.
- Maintain competence and knowledge by keeping abreast of changes and developments in the law.
- Identify, interpret and apply relevant legal principles.
- Analyse problems, highlight risk areas and think critically to resolve issues.
- Deal promptly with correspondence and client enquiries.
- Achieve chargeable hours and financial targets.
- Provide expert legal advice in a timely and cost‑effective manner in accordance with professional standards, compliance and internal quality requirements.
- Deal courteously and promptly with any instructions or queries arising.
- Develop and maintain good client relationships and enhance the firm’s client base by effective liaison with existing and new clients.
- Participate in marketing activities as requested, including attending seminars, client training or events, writing articles for publication, etc.
- Train and supervise paralegals, act as a mentor and ensure their continuous learning development and progression.
- Check relevant legal documentation of paralegals relating to transactions.
- Maximise the firm’s potential to cross‑sell services by identifying appropriate opportunities.
- Contribute to tenders for new work in conjunction with other fee earners and Business Development team.
- Actively monitor and review own development needs to ensure professional skills are developed, up to date and comply with Solicitors Regulation Authority requirements.
- Any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade and post.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified Solicitor or MCILEX / FCILEX with interest in utilities work.
- Strong commercial property background.
- Ability to manage complex caseloads, prioritise workloads and work under pressure.
- Ability to communicate confidently with both clients and all department levels across the Firm.
- Computer literate.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as using own initiative.
- Ability to provide support and guidance to junior members of the team, with the assistance of senior members.
- Project a professional image at all times.

- 35‑hour working week – Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
