Senior Residential Child Care Worker Opportunity – 3 x Full time (37 hours). Applicants looking for part time roles also invited to apply. We have vacancies in Hengrove and Horfield. Unfortunately we cannot offer sponsorship for these roles.

Bristol City Council's Children Residential Service is offering a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Senior Residential Child Care Worker, providing therapeutic care experiences for children with complex needs. This would be a good opportunity for someone to experience a leadership role within a children’s home.

About Us: At Bristol City Council, we've redefined our approach to children's residential care. By transitioning to smaller homes for 2 to 3 children, we provide personalised care that better matches placements and creates a homely environment where children feel safe, loved, and nurtured. Our trauma-informed approach ensures we understand and cater to each child's unique needs, empowering them to thrive.

We serve children up to 18 years old with complex needs, including SEMH needs, learning difficulties, and challenging behaviour. If you share our passion for working with children who have faced significant challenges, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervisory role: support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager by supervising staff and contributing to the management team.
  • Therapeutic care: provide a therapeutic care experience within smaller children’s homes.
  • Complex needs: work with children up to 18 years old with complex needs, including SEMH needs, learning difficulties, and challenging behaviour.
  • Rota based shifts: work shifts on a rota basis, including nights, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. Pay allowances for shift work, sleep-in duties, and bank holidays.

Qualifications

Required: Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent, including NVQ3 Health and Social and Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce diploma.
