Role Summary
This role is suited to a solicitor qualified in England & Wales with 6+ years’ PQE and extensive experience in insurance/reinsurance, gained either in-house or in Private Practice.

Role Accountabilities
  • Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice on a broad range of insurance and reinsurance relating underwriting/broking and distribution matters, employment, E&O and Non-E&O matters including advising on legal & regulatory developments and business projects.
  • Support the Group GC and wider team in delivering legal strategy and frameworks for managing legal risk.
  • Draft, review and negotiate various contracts including but not limited to NDAs, Client Services Agreements, Insurer TOBAs, Intermediary TOBAs, Delegated Authority Agreements, Claims Handling Agreements, Co-broking agreements, Affinity Agreements, Appointed Representative Agreements and Introducer Appointed Representative Agreements with a focus on legal robustness and commercial viability.
  • Advise on contentious matters, claims coverage and contract interpretation including employment related contentious and non-contentious matters.
  • Assist in training on legal and regulatory topics.
  • Monitor and analyse legal developments and emerging risks, ensuring the business remains informed and compliant.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business and promote the Legal team as a valued and accessible resource.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes, controls, policies and procedures and risk awareness.
  • Provide expert advice on corporate law and governance matters including corporate structuring and global expansion.
  • Oversee the implementation of corporate governance practices to ensure that they are followed consistently across the organisation.
  • Assist on legal workstreams for corporate structuring and M&A transactions and shareholder agreements.
  • Advise on group structuring and subsidiary governance, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Support board governance activities.
  • Advise senior management on legal risks and the structuring of complex transactions
  • Partner with finance, compliance, legal, HR, IT and Procurement to provide integrated legal support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external legal providers to ensure quality and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Assist GC with review of panel law firms and review of help reduce legal spend.
  • Work with the Head of Employment Law and HR team on various employment related matters.
Role Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 6 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Financial services sector experience, is highly desirable.
  • Solid evidence of working on business integration/transformational (legal and/or regulatory) projects is desirable but not essential.
  • Accustomed to working with diverse teams of people.
  • Proven ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
