Senior Clinical Support worker

Join our dedicated team in the Haematology and Oncology unit, where we deliver safe, compassionate care to children with haematology and oncology disorders. As a Senior Clinical Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in ensuring a positive experience for patients and their families. You'll help maintain a safe and reassuring setting, working closely with a collaborative team to support children through their journey.

About You
  • You’ll be confident working with children and families, using initiative, and supporting a multidisciplinary team.
  • You’ll bring experience from a care or health & social care setting ideally in a hospital or community environment.
Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Clinical Department Manager or Supervisor, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the multidisciplinary team in delivering safe, effective care to children on Ward 6.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and child‑friendly environment.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and care of children on Ward 6.
  • Support stock management, equipment checks, and administrative duties as required.
  • Take capillary bloods (training given).

Qualifications/Training
  • GCSE A‑C English or Level 2 equivalent
  • GCSE A‑C Maths or Level 2 equivalent
  • Commit to undertaking & completing a Vocational Award Level 3 in Health
  • Hold evidence of completing a Care Certificate or have completed an in‑house Band 2 competency package
  • Committed to completing competency packages as per clinical area
  • Vocational Award Level 3 in Health or Health & Social Care
Experience
  • Experience in a Care or Health & Social Care environment within a hospital or community setting
  • Worked in a customer‑facing environment
  • Worked with children and young people
  • Worked within the National Health Service
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and maintaining a safe environment
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding children or young adults
