About the role

We have a brand-new opportunity for an Associate or Senior Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our team based in our Leeds office with a focus on healthcare buildings. You will be based in Leeds but work across a wider geography, contributing to healthcare projects from local centres to large-scale medical campuses. We balance people-centred design with clinical standards to create wellbeing-focused environments that support patient recovery.

Our experience spans every type of healthcare project, with a priority on safe, secure and healing environments that assist healthcare professionals in their work.

As an Associate or Senior Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will lead large-scale, complex projects, manage stakeholders’ expectations, monitor and report metrics, motivate others, and optimise resource use.

In this role you can expect to:

  • Be in a client-facing role, attending project meetings and disseminating the brief within the project team. You will need to be personable and a good communicator.
  • Lead the development of initial strategic concepts for projects ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.
  • Take responsibility for solid technical delivery in your work, either alone or as part of a team.
  • Engage with junior support staff, advising to develop their skills and maximise team performance.
  • Collaborate with the Firm-wide Group to gain experience and share knowledge.
  • Be financially astute and help monitor fee expenditure, resources and deliverables.
  • Explore new ways of working, innovation and research to stay ahead of competitors.
  • Maintain a high reputation within the industry and ensure adherence to quality management and risk control procedures.
About you

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer or similar role, with a track record delivering complex Healthcare projects.
  • Understanding of mechanical services including heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary environment with excellent communication skills with internal and external clients, and a team-based approach.
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Self-awareness, openness, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Conversant with relevant British Standards.
  • Previous consultancy experience and an appreciation of related specialisms (acoustics, fire engineering, computer modelling) and their impact on design.
