Job summary

A local educational institution seeks a Temporary SEN Learning Support Assistant to support children with diverse needs in a part-time role covering maternity leave. The assistant will work 13 hours a week, mainly in the mornings, and will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to facilitate effective learning. Position Type: Teaching/Child Support | Pay Range: Scale 3 point 5‑6 | Start Date: 02/02/2026 | Contract Type: Part‑time | Term: Temporary

Role: Temporary SEN Learning Support Assistant – 13 hours per week (09:00‑12:15, Monday to Thursday) covering a maternity cover period from 2 February to 17 July 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Support a child/children with a range of learning, behavioural and medical needs, including providing medical care and becoming trained in Diabetes to administer injections.
  • Work closely with the SENDco and LSAs to promote effective learning environments through One Plans.
  • Teach intervention groups and monitor progress of SEND children.
  • Liaise and meet with parents of SEND children.
  • Provide support and development to sustain motivation and secure improvement in teaching SEND children.
  • Provide medical care as required.
  • Perform additional duties outlined in the attached job description.
