Location: Miltonduff, El

About the role

We are Pernod Ricard, a leading company in the global spirits industry with over 19 000 employees worldwide. We own 16 of the world’s top 100 spirits brands and hold one of the most prestigious and comprehensive brand portfolios in the industry. Our portfolio includes premium brands available in over 160 countries: Absolut vodka, Ballantine’s, Chivas Regal, Royal Salute, The Glenlivet Scotch whiskies, Jameson Irish whiskey, Martell cognac, Havana Club rum, Beefeater, Malfy and Monkey 47 gins, Malibu liqueur and Mumm and Perrier‑Jouët champagnes.

In the UK, Pernod Ricard consists of four businesses: Chivas Brothers, Pernod Ricard UK, Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail, and The Absolut Group. We have 2 000 employees in the UK, headquartered in London, with offices in Scotland and production sites across the UK from Plymouth to London to Speyside.

This position sits in our Chivas Brothers business, which has a 1 600‑strong team across 27 sites. It is responsible for operations from procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all downstream supply‑chain activities, and it plays an active role in innovation, talent development and operational risk management.

Your new team

The Health & Safety team at Pernod Ricard comprises 12 professionals supporting our UK sites, including multiple distillation and maturation sites in Northern Scotland, offices in London and Glasgow, and the largest site in Dumbarton.

Responsibilities

You will develop and implement a Distillation & Maturation Health and Safety Roadmap to drive improvements in safety performance, ensure compliance, manage a team of Health & Safety professionals and engage all employees across operations. Your six main areas of responsibility are:

  • Strategic partnering & engagement – build trust with site leaders, shape a safety‑first culture, and stay ahead of regulatory change.
  • People leadership – lead and support safety advisors, grow their confidence and skills, and build a trusted team.
  • Cultural maturity – refine our health and safety framework into a simple, human and focused roadmap; embed shared ownership of safety into every role.
  • Standards & systems – support high‑hazard risk and COMAH compliance, oversee operational implementation of management systems and software platforms, and manage contractor safety relationships.
  • Change management – embed health and safety thinking early in site changes and developments, from automation to reshaping.
  • Training & development – move from lagging indicators to learning insights, coach others toward risk‑critical thinking, champion learning over blame, and lead investigations focused on improvement and trust.
Collaboration

Internally, you will collaborate across functions—operations, HR, engineering, building management and more—and with Pernod Ricard HQ. Externally, you will work with the Health and Safety Executive, regulatory bodies, trade associations, emergency services, local authorities and vendors.

Qualifications
  • Genuine care for people and belief that safety enables good work.
  • Professional Health & Safety qualification, e.g. NEBOSH, and experience in developing and implementing health and safety management systems.
  • Proven experience in a similar role across multiple sites, managing competing priorities and building a high‑performing team.
  • Strong relationship building and influence skills, with excellent communication, coaching and facilitation.
  • Experience with incident analysis, risk assessment methodologies, human factors and Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles.
Benefits

For your health we offer private medical insurance, income protection and a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme. Lifestyle benefits include 25 days of annual holiday (increasing to 27 with service length), 11 public holidays, pension, share incentive and share ownership plans, life assurance and more. Additional gifts and discounts—including staff‑shop allowances, a reward and recognition scheme and discounts from high‑street retailers—are available. Employee‑run networks, flexibility, trust and tools to support wellbeing and mental fitness are also part of the package.

Diversity and Inclusion

We promote diversity and inclusion across our business. We assess applications based on skills, experiences and achievements, not gender, age, ethnicity or educational background. Flexible working options and accommodations during the application process are welcomed.

Responsible Drinking

We aim to turn social interactions into genuine and friendly experiences, promoting responsible drinking. Our culture welcomes all, regardless of religious beliefs or personal consumption choices. We collaborate with industry, civil society, governments and UN bodies to promote responsible drinking.
