A local government body in Cardiff is seeking a Senior Carer for its Community Resource team. The role involves supporting vulnerable adults in re-learning daily living skills and managing a team of Reablement Care Workers. Ideal candidates will have NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care and experience in staff supervision. The Community Resource team Home Care (CRT) are part of Cardiff Council’s Independent Living and Community Care Service (ILS) and work in partnership with vulnerable adults to support them to live independently at home and connected to their communities.
CRT is a joint service provided by Cardiff Council and Cardiff and Vale University health board that aims to support adults, through therapy and or home care, to recover or maintain their ability to live independently at home. The service provides reablement care which aims to encourage and support people to learn or re-learns skills necessary for daily living, following a period of illness or after a stay in hospital.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Cardiff’s CRT Home Care team. You will work as a senior carer, supporting more complex cases, working in partnership with the adults we support to increase their independence at home. This will involve providing care and support to learn or re-learn the skills necessary for independent daily living, following a period of illness or a stay in hospital.
You will support, line manage and mentor a cohort of Reablement Care Workers in accordance with all legislation including Social Care (Wales) Act 2014, RISCA 2016 and all statutory duties, Cardiff Council policies, and procedures.

You must be a dynamic person who is passionate about promoting citizens independence.
You will be a good team player, have excellent communication, organisation skills.
You will have significant experience in using various IT systems, with the ability to work under pressure to ensure the smooth running of this busy team. Attention to detail and accuracy are very important to this work.
You will have the ability to understand the issues relating to the directorate and have experience of day-to-day supervision of staff.
You will have a commitment to working in a strength-based, preventative way, providing the support needed to enable service users to achieve what matters to them.
This is a temporary post until 30/11/2026.
