Responsibilities

  • Provide telephone assessments and management advice to patients.

  • Maintain stock control in the surgeries.
  • Undertake clinical telephone assessments using SDCEP guidance.

Job Summary

This role is offered on a fixed term basis for 12 months. The hours are part‑time, 12 hours per month. Internal applicants who wish to be considered for a secondment opportunity should discuss with their line manager the suitability of a possible secondment.

Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic Dental Nurse looking to work with routine and urgent care patients in a general dental practice setting? This role offers the opportunity to provide chairside assistance and triage advice to patients at Springbank Dental Clinic (Out of Hours) in Cheltenham.

Main Duties
  • Providing telephone assessments of patients with dental symptoms and offer management advice and onward referral as appropriate
  • Use of all dental equipment, conducting performance checks and identifying maintenance issues
  • Setting up and closing down surgeries following infection control guidelines
  • Carry out reception duties as required, including understanding patient charges and exemptions
  • Carry out stock control and maintenance of stock in the surgeries
  • Undertake definitive clinical telephone assessments of patients with dental symptoms using SDCEP guidance
Qualifications & Experience
  • GDC registration (or newly qualified dental nurses awaiting GDC registration number)
  • National Certificate for Dental Nurses or NVQ equivalent
  • Previous experience working as a Dental Nurse post‑qualification
  • Computer and keyboard proficiency
  • Experience of using dental software
  • Experience of dental triage (desirable)
Professional Requirements
  • Must be able to undertake statutory and mandatory training and physical interventions; fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health
  • Not eligible for sponsorship as per UK Visa and Immigration rules and regulations
  • Subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act
  • Applicants must have current UK professional registration
