A UK trade association is seeking a Public Affairs professional to support its government engagement and provide secretariat services. The role blends strategic advice with hands‑on administration and is expected to be around five days per month.

About the Association

This umbrella body represents several industry associations within a major UK manufacturing and consumer goods sector. It acts as a collective voice on issues including skills, trade, regulation, and sustainability, and engages with policymakers through an All‑Party Parliamentary Group (APPG).

Role Overview

Secretariat & Administration

  • Organise executive meetings and events
  • Draft agendas, minutes, reports, and communications
  • Manage budgets, subscriptions, and basic accounts
  • Maintain website and social media

Advisory Group Support

  • Arrange committee meetings
  • Manage member lists, agendas, and actions

Public Affairs

  • Provide political advice and intelligence
  • Liaise with ministers, MPs, and civil servants
  • Draft correspondence, questions, and briefings
  • Arrange site visits and monitor policy developments

APPG Secretariat

  • Ensure compliance with parliamentary rules
  • Manage meetings, AGMs, and reporting
  • Support MPs and Peers with letters, motions, and inquiries

Candidate Profile

  • Strong grasp of UK Public Affairs and parliamentary process
  • Excellent communication, drafting, and organisational skills
