A leading security services provider in Wellingborough is seeking a Prison Custody Officer to provide structure and routine to prisoners, ensure participation in work or education, and maintain safety. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills and resilience. This role offers a competitive salary, training, and various benefits including 33 days leave and a company pension.
Salary: £31,222.39 per annum, increasing to £33,701.00 after 2 years’ service. Permanent, full‑time – average 40 hr/week with a variety of shifts.
Key responsibilities include providing structure and routine to prisoners, ensuring they attend work or education, securing cells each evening, maintaining safety and order, delivering training in control & restraint, first aid, interpersonal skills and health & safety, and working a rolling pattern of shifts (weekends, evenings, nights) with a minimum of 30‑day notice for changes.
Minimum qualifications and requirements:
Training & Development: 9‑week structured course (35 hrs/week) with a training salary of £27,321.00, rising to £31,222.39 post‑training. Includes shadowing of qualified PCOs and comprehensive training in control & restraint, first aid, interpersonal skills and health & safety.
