Principal Engineer - Consultancy

Central Bristol + 2days hybrid working

£50,000 - £60,000 + package (experience depending)

Kitson Associates is excited to share a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Principal Engineer to join a newly formed region based in Bristol. You will be an integral number two to the Director, helping to facilitate that growth.

Role Description

• Proven ability to manage clients, projects, and commercials.
• Experience liaising with Local Planning Authorities.
• Capable of taking the reins on projects and progressing into leadership roles.
• Help guide and mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge and experience.
• Oversee designs to ensure they meet standards, regulations, and client needs.
• Manage resources, schedules, and deliverables to keep projects running smoothly.
• Build strong relationships with clients and external contacts like contractors and councils.
• Check and review project work to maintain high quality and resolve issues early.
• Support bids and tenders with technical input and cost estimates.

Skills and Experience

• Ideally 6+ years UK experience with 2 years’ experience in a Principal position.
• Proven experience managing a team and working on commercial elements of bringing new projects in.
• Highway design experience, dealing with Section 278 / 38.
• Drainage design, dealing with Section 104.
• Previous experience managing clients and expectations.
• Experience dealing with local planning authorities.
• Good commercial acumen.
