Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in the North Midlands is seeking a motivated individual for clerical and technical support in Pathology areas. This fixed-term role focuses on ensuring high-quality Point of Care Testing (POCT) operations by providing essential support to Biomedical Scientists. Applicants should possess GCSEs in Maths, English, and Science and relevant NVQ qualifications. The position demands effective communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure. The salary is competitive and reflects the role's requirements.

Qualifications

  • Good standard of education – GCSE grades A‑C in Maths, English and a Science subject.
  • Relevant NVQ level 2 or equivalent; suitable apprenticeship such as Clinical Laboratory Support; or IBMS Certificate of Achievement.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety matters.
  • Basic theoretical technical knowledge of the role.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data quality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine tasks within Pathology and clinical areas.
  • Provide clerical and technical support to Biomedical Scientists.
  • Operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of POCT equipment.
  • Support and guidance to Pathology Support Workers.
  • Efficient and flexible participation in POCT team activities.
