A caring educational group based in Wythenshawe is seeking a Pastoral Support Assistant to help meet the emotional needs of young people with complex challenges. The role involves delivering pastoral care, working closely with families and staff to create individualized support programs, and ensuring a positive learning environment. Candidates should have experience with additional support needs such as ASC or ADHD and ideally hold a relevant qualification. The position offers training, career development opportunities, and a £1,000 referral bonus.
As a Pastoral Support Assistant you’ll help us meet our young peoples’ emotional needs. Our young people have challenging complex emotional and behavioural needs (Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and need more support than most. You’ll apply high standards of care to provide a positive learning environment where every young person can thrive.
With experience working with young people with BESD or ASD in a school or care setting you will understand our young peoples’ developmental needs and the role of pastoral care. You will be a good listener, inspire young people to achieve, and work collaboratively with families and the wider team.
Support the delivery of pastoral care and emotional support for children with complex needs. Work with staff and families to develop individualised programmes. Create and maintain a positive learning environment that promotes wellbeing and resilience.
Previous experience with ASC, ADHD or SEMH pupils, including working with families in challenging circumstances. Experience of multi-agency work with an understanding of safeguarding and child protection legislation, policies and guidance.
Ideally you hold an NVQ 3 in Care/Level 2 Teacher Assistant Qualification or equivalent.
