Job description

Berrycove Limited is seeking a Packaging Manager with direct experience working in commercial fresh food packaging and logistics environments to join its expanding farming operations in Tobago, offering significant advancement opportunities. While open to all applicants, this is a unique opportunity for nationals of Trinidad & Tobago or CARICOM Certificate holders to be part of the regional initiative toward building food security through advanced AgTech.

Overview

The Packaging Manager is charged with the execution and management of packaging operations to successfully achieve the key performance objectives of safety, quality, efficiency, volume, and cost. You will report to the General Manager, work closely with the QHSE Consultant and manage a team of Packaging Assistants.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure package integrity by implementing and monitoring quality control checks to meet health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Develop team environment and improve staff efficiency through TPM tools, coaching, audits, and training where needed.
  • Develop, create and implement packaging records for the packaging process to be GMP compliant.
  • Perform routine inspection on packaged products and resolve all packing issues.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with all external vendors.
  • Analyze consumer complaints to packaging, and propose and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare documents such as Bill of Material forms, expiry dates, and batch codes.
  • Prepare budgets and manage inventory of materials and goods.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, spreadsheets, etc.
Key Requirements
  • 1-2 years of supervisory or management experience in food packaging, specifically in fresh food packaging and logistics.
  • Well-versed in quality standards in the new product development process with proficiency across a broad range of packaging materials and their respective storage and handling.
  • Knowledge of QA and Safety principles and systems, GMP regulations, industry practices, and standards.
  • Exposure at a location associated with horticulture and commercial hydroponic greenhouse operations is an asset.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Food Engineering, Food Science, or Technical Sciences preferred.
  • Certification in Process Technology or equivalent would be an asset.
Skills and Abilities
  • Well-organized with the ability to optimize the use of space and equipment while reducing operating costs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships
  • Information Management and Reporting - Provides clear and accurate information on the performance of the Packaging Line, according to mandatory KPIs.
  • Continuous Improvement - Explores and implements new opportunities for packaging and product operations.
  • Accountability and Time management – Takes initiative and ownership of responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in inventory management, data record management, and project management.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Tools and packaging management software.
Compensation
