Nightshift Workshop Supervisor
We're looking for an experienced Nightshift Workshop Supervisor to help keep our workshop running safely, efficiently, and to plan on the nightshift. This is a hands‑on supervisory role, coordinating people, work, and resources to ensure production flows smoothly in a busy steel fabrication environment.
You’ll work closely with the wider operations team, providing clear day‑to‑day supervision, maintaining standards, and ensuring strong communication and handovers between shifts.

About the Role
As Nightshift Workshop Supervisor, you’ll oversee nightshift activity on the shopfloor, making sure work is carried out safely, to quality standards, and inline with production schedules. You’ll manage priorities as they change, and act as the main point of contact during the shift.
This role suits someone who enjoys being on the floor, solving problems as they arise, and keeping things moving.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Oversee workshop operations, ensuring productivity, safety, quality, and delivery targets are achieved.
- Plan, coordinate, and allocate work in line with the production plan, project schedules, and available resources.
- Monitor progress against schedules, adjusting labour and resources as required to meet deadlines.
- Assign tasks based on priorities, project requirements, and individual competency levels.
- Ensure compliance with MRP system usage to enable accurate project tracking, reporting, and KPI generation.
- Ensure all workshop equipment is maintained in a safe and operational condition through regular cleaning, inspection, and preventative maintenance.
- Raise and log maintenance issues through the Mango system and ensure clear handover to the maintenance team.
- Manage changes arising from project variations, engineering changes, or unplanned events.
- Ensure all quality documentation is completed accurately, reviewed, and stored in the correct systems and locations.
- Co‑ordinate with supervisors from other departments, to ensure the flow of material and information from and to those departments is flawless.
- Establish and ensure that there are clear binary indicators set up to ensure the flow of material through the workshop.
- Act as the primary point of contact for nightshift workshop staff and elevate issues via agreed reporting channels.
- Attend meetings to discuss project updates, resolve issues, and plan future work.
- Carry out diligent handovers with the back‑to‑back supervisor to update on progress and issues that have occurred.
About You
- You’ll be practical, organised, and comfortable supervising people in an industrial workshop environment.
- You’re confident managing a shift, prioritising work, and dealing with issues calmly as they arise.
You’ll Bring
- Experience supervising workshop or manufacturing operations (steel fabrication preferred)
- A strong understanding of health & safety and quality standards
- Confidence using MRP or production tracking systems
- Good communication skills and a calm, hands‑on approach
