Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior MRI Radiographer to join our busy department, offering a wide range of specialist scanning, rotating between the NUH sites.

You will receive a structured training programme on 1.5T Siemens Aera, 1.5T Siemens Sola, 1.5T Philips Ingenia, 3T Philips Elition and a 3T GE Discovery. There are 7 scanners across the NUH sites, (plus 1 further scanner at Loughborough University).

You will be supported by our current team with any training requirements, and there will a regular review of your progress to ensure your competencies are achieved.

We are a 7 day service, with an on-call provision at QMC, in which you will be expected to participate.

Main duties of the job

To undertake imaging procedures within area of specialty.

To maintain a high standard of work and to strive for continual improvements in radiographic standards and patient care.

Triage workflow and patients in the area within which they are working by collaborating with colleagues to maximise departmental efficiency.

To establish and maintain a good working relationship with other members of staff and disciplines.

To assess, by the way of a safety questionnaire, all patients’ suitability to enter the magnetic field. They must also be responsible for the safety of all other visitors and visiting staff entering the scan rooms.

To manipulate and manoeuvre radiographic equipment and patients in order to obtain high quality diagnostic images.

To provide safe and excellent standard of imaging for our patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

With a vision of “Delivering the best care to our patients, valuing and developing our staff”, the post holder will support the smooth running of the MRI service by using radiographic skill and ability as well as ensuring a quality service with a high standard of patient care with the outcome of a positive patient experience, and to comply with the Trust’s Values and Behaviours.

You will be supported to work safely and competently on the MRI equipment as well as working safely when caring for patients, their carers and other visitors. It is important to promote both Radiology and the Trust and rise to the challenges that occur. You are responsible for safety, raising concerns when necessary, ensuring that you are working safely and within your level of ability and responsibility.

You will be working within the team and you will be responsible for maintaining the patient workflow on a day to day basis to ensure that all resources are used appropriately and effectively.

You are expected to work closely with Radiographers, support trainees, Imaging Assistants, Administration Booking team as well as nursing and medical teams both in Radiology as well as across the Trust.

Training & Qualifications
  • Diploma of College of Radiographers or B.Sc.Hons in Diagnostic Radiography.
