Mechanical Engineer - Contract

Location: Bristol (hybrid)

Duration: 12 Months

Rate: Up to £50/hour (Inside IR35 - Umbrella only)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their cutting‑edge robotics and inspection technology team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast‑paced, collaborative environment, supporting the development of on‑wing engine inspection tools and automation systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support engineering and production teams with mechanical design and assembly tasks
  • Produce and review 3D CAD models and technical drawings (Autodesk Inventor)
  • Assist with technical documentation: SOPs, BoMs, QA notes, and build procedures
  • Participate in mechanical testing, jig setup, QA, and workshop‑based tasks
  • Communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Occasional travel within the UK for product testing and support
Essential Requirements
  • Proven experience in CAD and mechanical drawing (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
  • Hands‑on workshop skills with power and hand tools
  • Familiarity with production tooling, QA processes, and technical documentation
  • Experience working in small, agile engineering teams
  • Understanding of engineering validation and verification processes
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with 3D printing (FDM/SLA)
  • Exposure to quality engineering tools such as CMM, gauges, and metrology
