Qualifications

Job description

The role

To participate in the design of bespoke fabricated handling equipment for the offshore and marine engineering sector.

Job Purpose

• To participate in delivering key product solutions in a dynamic design environment
• Based on a diverse range of existing technology, work with colleagues to:
  • Ensure current products are deployed appropriately and safely to suit client requirements
  • Modify existing products to suit a tailored set of client requirements
  • Innovate new bespoke solutions to solve unique challenges clients may be experiencing
• Maintain good working relationships internally with other departments and externally with the client
• Keeping abreast of developments within the industry and help to ensure client remains seen as a leader in their field

Main Responsibilities

• Ensuring engineering design packages in full compliance with customers requirements and all relevant codes and standards
• Participate in the approval of design packages
• Support and mentoring of engineering team members
• Producing conceptual designs and detailed engineering analysis using available methods
• Producing 3D model drawings
• Liaising with appropriate departments to ensure clients requirements are fully met
• Preparing design specifications
• Preparing general arrangement drawings and assembly drawings, manufacturing drawings, material take off lists and bill of materials.
• Advising and instructing operations staff with respect to testing and assembly of equipment
• Attending client meetings as required, identifying design engineering requirements and processes to meet client needs

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical (preferred), Civil or Marine Engineering.
• Working towards Chartered membership of relevant professional engineering institute.

Skills and Experience

• Design experience from first principles.
• Competence in 3D modelling and drafting (AutoCAD Inventor in use)
• Experienced of, and competent in carrying out, checking and approving engineering design packages.
• Understanding of and interpretation of FEA techniques.
