Job summary

A local sports club is seeking Matchday Maintenance Assistants to support the Safety Team. You'll maintain facilities and ensure cleanliness during events to enhance customer experience. Job Title: MatchdayMaintenance Assistant

Accountable to: Head Steward

Contract: Casual

Hours: Variable, confirmed a minimum of 10 days in advance. Hours will include evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Salary: £12.71 per hour

Location: The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton and other nominated Club venues

Closing date: 31 January 2026

THE ROLE

A fantastic opportunity for several Matchday Maintenance Assistants to join our Safety Team!

You can play a vital role in proactively maintaining the facilities on event days, contributing towards the delivery of an outstanding customer experience for all those attending the Cooper Associates County Ground and other nominated Club venues.

To give you a snapshot of what this role involves, you'll conduct pre-match sweeps, manage waste and cleanliness throughout the day, and support the wider grounds team with tasks such as positioning barriers, securing sight screens, and moving perimeter boards. They'll also be basic maintenance duties like repairing plumbing leaks, changing light bulbs, and troubleshooting power or water outages, as well as undertaking deeper cleaning when areas are closed. You will support safety measures by monitoring compliance with stadium regulations, reporting breaches, and assisting in emergencies, including raising alarms, recording incidents, and following safety instructions.

Additionally, you will uphold the Club’s high standards and values by adhering to safety policies, safeguarding procedures, and promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion. You'll be responsible for ensuring a positive spectator experience through maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service, while also supporting emergency responses and incident management. This role demands flexibility, a proactive approach, and willingness to undertake additional tasks as needed, contributing to a safe, welcoming, and well‑maintained environment.

ABOUT YOU

Amongst other criteria, you will have a practical approach to tasks, with experience in carrying out simple maintenance and working effectively in customer‑facing environments. A good understanding of health and safety standards, alongside strong communication skills to interact with people from diverse backgrounds, and excellent written and verbal English is also essential.

You are enthusiastic, positive, resilient, and committed to working in a challenging, high‑profile environment, remaining calm under pressure.
