Scofell Commercial Landscapes has been creating, maintaining and improving landscapes for commercial clients across the south of England since 1998. Although we’ve grown, our founders are still running the company. We still offer a personal level of care and attention to all our clients. And we still apply an individual level of care and attention to all the landscaping tasks we do.

Scofell provide a range of ground maintenance, landscaping, tree surgery and countryside services. Our clients include primary and secondary schools, councils, retail and business parks, house builders, managed properties, owners of large country estates and other private and public sector organisations.

Role Description

We are seeking a Landscape Operative to join our team in Chieveley, near Newbury. This is a full-time, on-site role. The Landscape Operative will support the Landscape Supervisor in delivering high-quality landscaping projects across a variety of sites.

  • Assisting with ground preparation, planting shrubs and trees, laying turf, seeding, and creating wildflower areas
  • Supporting fencing and general hard landscaping tasks
  • Reading and working from site plans
  • Adhering to project requirements including PPE and client-led health & safety standards
  • Keeping company vehicles clean and tidy; conducting weekly vehicle checks if allocated a work vehicle
  • Reporting near misses, accidents, and incidents accurately and promptly
  • Following company H&S policy, risk assessments and COSHH guidelines
  • Undertaking additional duties as needed to support the business
  • Contributing to the company’s green objectives

  • Applicants must be able to reliably commute to Chieveley (RG20 8RU) or plan to relocate before starting work.
  • A full UK driver’s licence is advantageous
