IT Manager – Turn IT On

Turn IT On is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic IT Manager to join our team in Salisbury. The ideal candidate should bring a natural flair for technology, a strong willingness to learn, and a passion for providing exceptional service to our schools.

Job Summary

As IT Manager, you will oversee the management, installation, maintenance, availability, and security of the curriculum and administrative ICT network, including hardware and software infrastructure. You will collaborate with the Senior Management team to develop the school’s IT infrastructure and plan projects to optimise the network for effective teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the school’s network infrastructure and ICT-based applications.
  • Ensure the availability, security and performance of all key systems – switches, virtual and physical server environments, Microsoft 365, and backups.
  • Provide technical advice, training and support to staff to enable effective use of systems.
  • Day‑to‑day management of all IT operations, ensuring all requests are dealt with efficiently.
  • Line manage and oversee the work of the ICT support staff.
  • Provide 2nd/3rd line support as required.
  • Prepare weekly service‑update emails and monthly service‑review reports for Trust contacts, including reporting on any SLA failures.
  • Enforce and monitor compliance with school policies.
  • Deliver internal staff training.
Ideal Candidate
  • 2‑3 years of experience as an IT Manager/Network Manager/Senior ICT Consultant within a school setting.
  • Deep understanding of the requirements and responsibilities of working in a school environment.
  • Experience upgrading a school IT network system.
  • Highly self‑motivated with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem‑solving and identifying opportunities to improve services.
Job Details

Full‑time, full‑year contract with an enhanced DBS check.

Salary: £32,000 – £40,000 (negotiable for the right candidate).
