The Opportunity

We require a Heritage Consultant to join the Historic Environment team, based at One Centenary Way in Birmingham; this is a full‑time permanent role within the multidisciplinary Climate and Sustainability Services team. The role involves writing Historic Environment Desk‑Based Assessments, undertaking site and archive visits, and contributing to Historic Environment Environmental Statement chapters.

It includes occasional travel to other Arup offices and project related activities. Full UK Driving Licence is required for travel beyond the Midlands.

Work with colleagues across a wide range of disciplines to achieve project objectives and support Arup’s commitment to a net‑zero future.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for people who possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or master’s degree in Archaeology or a related subject; Membership (PCIfA minimum, ACIfA preferred) of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists.
  • Knowledge of the UK legislative framework and its practical application to historic environment projects.
  • Experience of undertaking Historic Environment DBAs or similar reports.
  • Proficient GIS user (ArcGIS preferred) and dataset manipulation skills.
