Job summary

A recruitment agency is looking for a Field Forklift Engineer based in Warrington. You will be responsible for maintaining forklifts, conducting repairs, and ensuring functionality in compliance with legislation. The ideal candidate should have relevant qualifications and experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, good customer skills, and a valid UK driving licence. The salary is between £30,000 and £35,000 with additional benefits including overtime pay and pension.

  • Inspect and provide quotes for repairs to customers.
  • Complete and report on battery surveys as required.

Job description

As a Field Forklift Engineer, you will act as a key member of the team by keeping our client’s forklifts in smooth working order. You will have the following duties and responsibilities:

Position Requirements:
  • Repair of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components
  • Repairing hydraulic valves and rams
  • Repairing final drive and gearbox components
  • Repairing engines and components
  • Inspecting and providing quotes to customers regarding repairs, in close liaison with the Service Manager
  • To identify additional chargeable repairs that can be quoted to the customer.
  • Responsible for servicing LPG, diesel and electric powered forklift trucks to a high standard, and with a view to preventative maintenance
  • Using a check sheet ensure the equipment is fully functional, and conforms to current legislation
  • Changing the oil, filters, etc as necessary.
  • To carry out Thorough Examinations pending qualifications
  • To identify additional chargeable repairs that can be quoted to the customer
  • Responsible for completing a partial or full strip-down of LPG, diesel or electric forklift trucks
  • Check voltages and gravities of traction batteries using meters and hydrometers
  • Complete a battery survey and report on it as required
  • Responsible for time entry, job reporting, parts requests and customer sign off using a tablet
  • Liaising with the Service Manager and the Parts Controller as necessary
Education/Qualifications:

City and Guilds or BTEC qualification in a related field of relevance to the Forklift industry, or similar qualification

Skills & Experience:
  • Good customer facing skills
  • Experience in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering in heavy goods / plant machinery / automotive
  • Holds a valid UK driving licence
  • If relevant, to hold a valid permit to work in the UK
  • Able to work unsupervised as required
