Job description
Essential Skills Practitioner – Digital Skills

Grade 6 – £28,142 for 22 hours per week, term time only for 45.8 weeks per annum, equating to £14,698.41 pro rata. Salary ranges from £28,142 to £31,022 pro rata. Contractual hours: 22. Basis: Open Ended. Job category/type: Youth and Community Learning services. Job reference: REQAA6911.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Prepare Personal Statements of learning for learners
  • Plan and deliver Digital Skills courses (linked to the Adult curriculum and learners needs)
  • Review and assist learners to evaluate their progress
  • Maintain records of learners progress
  • Maintain a teaching file including a scheme of work and lesson plans
  • Prepare learners for accreditation
  • Assist learners in producing good quality portfolios, including completion of relevant documentation
  • Deliver both daytime and evening classes at various Community Learning Centres and outreach locations
  • Complete registers, returns etc. as requested
  • Report for duty a quarter of an hour before the class commences
  • Request and ensure necessary resources are available for learning to take place
  • Check that the class venue is in order at the end of the session
  • Attend staff training and meetings and participate in team events
  • Engage in personal professional development and complete all mandatory training as required
  • Pay due heed to Health and Safety issues in accordance with the council's policies and procedures
  • Maintain the security of personal data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018
  • Carry out relevant duties as requested by the line manager
Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should hold a PGCE, Level 3 or 4 Essential Skills Practitioner Award (alternate teaching qualification may be considered), have experience teaching adults, good IT skills and insight to Digital Literacy issues.
