The role

Shape the Future of Naval Engineering – Join Us as an Electrical Technician.

As an Electrical Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of the Type 31 Project, delivering five advanced frigates to the Royal Navy—vessels designed for global operations, humanitarian aid, and defence missions. Your work will directly contribute to national security and cutting‑edge naval engineering, while offering you exceptional career development opportunities.

Responsibilities and day‑to‑day

• Install electrical equipment within marine environments, including shock and non‑shock mounted items.
• Fit cable containment systems and check wiring for electrical systems.
• Work on power distribution, lighting, fire detection, control circuits, and combat systems.
• Perform glanding and termination of cabling using various methods, including Mil‑spec connectors.
• Install and test fibre optic systems.

This is a full‑time, permanent role working 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday (7:30 am–5:00 pm) at Rosyth Dockyard. As the project progresses, overtime and shift work opportunities will be available, enabling you to earn enhanced rates.

Qualifications

• Minimum ONC in Electrical Engineering or Level 3 Electrical Apprenticeship.
• Preferred: Additional marine or defence‑related electrical certifications.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
