Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology (Medical Retina and Diabetic Eye Screening)
Applications are invited for the permanent post of Specialty Doctor in the department of Ophthalmology with a special interest in Medical Retina Ophthalmology, Intravitreal injections and Diabetic eye screening.
THIS ROLE WILL INCLUDE A MINIMUM AN EYE CASUALTY SESSION EVERY WEEK
This is permanent replacement post which will enhance the current establishment of NHS and academic staff of the Department of Ophthalmology.
The successful appointee will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical audit. They will be required to undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team. The appointee will have a principal interest in Med Ret and DESP and will be expected to contribute to the eye casualty emergency service on the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) site at the LGH Leicester General hospital and associated community hospitals or GP practices.
Please note, the job description contains a job plan, and the final timetable will be discussed and agreed upon on appointment. This is a Service provisional role and while we support development and progression we do have a cohort of patients to deliver and a service to support.
The appointee will join an active and enthusiastic team of 28 Ophthalmologists, 6x Specialty Doctors; both generalist and sub-specialist Ophthalmology services are provided within the UHL.
1x Emergency Eye Casualty session a week is mandatory for all posts within Ophthalmology.

Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check.
The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.
The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
