Job summary

A leading equipment services provider in Cannock is seeking a Workshop Support Engineer to assist engineers predominantly in the workshop. This role involves preparing trucks for painting, conducting inspections, supporting health and safety initiatives, and ensuring workshop organization. The ideal candidate should have a mechanical or electrical background, strong communication skills, and familiarity with health and safety regulations. Qualifications

  • Accredited mechanical/electrical trade technical apprentice or equivalent.
  • Substantial experience of oral and written communication.
  • PC Skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, email & internet) are desirable.
  • Knowledge of H&S, Environmental, and Quality policy awareness & commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on manual assistance to engineers in the workshop and on customer sites.
  • Prepare trucks for hand painting and paint to specified standards.
  • Support the maintenance of the 5S program for workplace organization.
  • Conduct pre-delivery and off-hire inspections after training.
  • Perform basic servicing and inspections with suitable training.
  • Carry out PAT testing of electrical equipment.
  • Pressure wash equipment in readiness for repairs.
  • Load/unload parts, ensuring correct paperwork is present.
  • Maintenance of yard security.
  • Deliver/uplift parts and liaise with suppliers, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Previously unknown workshop and field-based duties as directed.
  • Adopt a safety-first attitude in all tasks.
