A prominent cultural organization in the UK is seeking passionate individuals to join its Board of Trustees. As trustees, you'll provide strategic direction, ensure effective management of resources, and represent the organization at key events. Ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to the arts, equal opportunities, and the transformative power of stories. This role requires attending bi-monthly board meetings and supporting the Festival's work through your experience and connections.
Having just celebrated our twentieth anniversary, Manchester Literature Festival (MLF) is seeking new trustees to join the Board of Trustees/Directors and help shape the next chapter of the Festival’s development.
MLF provides unique and imaginative opportunities for audiences to experience high quality live literature through an annual Festival in October, as well as a year-round Creative Learning programme. A firm believer in the transformative power of words and stories, MLF's annual Festival includes some of the most interesting voices in fiction, poetry, literature in translation, song-writing, activism and culture.
The Role of TrusteesTrustees provide strategic direction for MLF, ensure that financial and other resources are well-managed, and use their skills, knowledge, experience and contacts to help support the development of the organisation and raise the profile of the Festival's work.
We are currently rebuilding our board of trustees to be more reflective of the communities we serve and welcome applications from anyone with a passion for literature/the arts and a belief in the transformative power of stories.
Board meetings are held every two months, typically starting at 5.30pm in central Manchester. We expect Trustees to be fully prepared for meetings which will entail reading written reports in advance.
Trustees serve an initial three-year term but are then eligible for re-appointment for a second term.
