We’re looking for an EC&I Maintenance Technician. Based at our Capenhurst site, you’ll be a member of a multi‑disciplined technical engineering team with core electrical and instrumentation skills providing the maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, calibration, inspection and modification of plant and process‑related equipment in a safe, cost‑effective and reliable manner. Successful candidates will be required to achieve and maintain SC clearance, with potential for DV clearance at a later date.

What you’ll do:
  • Promote and ensure the health and safety of individuals, plant and the environment to maintain high levels of personal safety, plant integrity and environmental compliance.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance activities and inspections to procedure and plan, responding to plant outages and breakdown activities flexibly in line with company requirements.
  • Work within the team, between teams and with contractors to deliver the maintenance programme and improve performance of existing installations, also designing, developing, installing, commissioning and qualifying new systems and equipment as necessary.
  • Liaise with maintenance contractors and suppliers to ensure cost‑effective provision of services and parts.
  • Undertake training, coaching, assessment and mentoring of other technicians and apprentices to maintain and upgrade the skills and knowledge base of the maintenance team.
  • Produce detailed technical working instructions, risk assessments and job method statements in area of expertise for approval by the engineers.
  • Undertake radiological monitoring of self and equipment to minimise possible spread of radiological contamination.
  • Contribute to development of planned maintenance strategies and methodologies to maximise plant availability.
  • Work individually or as part of a team in continuous improvement projects and initiatives.
What do you need to thrive in this role?
  • Relevant work experience in an engineering environment.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of plant equipment and systems across various engineering areas to comply with site licence.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of administrative, health, safety, environmental, security and waste disposal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • The capability to understand electrical, instrumentation, control and mechanical drawings and technical data sheets to aid fault finding.
  • Competent in calibration and end‑to‑end testing of plant instrumentation systems.
  • Competent and able to demonstrate knowledge of SIL‑rated systems.
  • Competent to operate controlled and registered workshop equipment.
  • Execute condition monitoring / trending on equipment to maintain plant reliability.
  • Understand, diagnose and repair / calibrate typical process equipment.
  • The ability to recognise, diagnose and repair plant control problems.
