An apprenticeship program at a leading transportation authority in London is seeking candidates for a Level 3 Electrical Installation role. Entry Requirements
A minimum of 2 GCSEs Grade A*-C or Grade 4 and above, including Maths and English Language (or equivalents)
You are not eligible for this scheme if you currently hold or are working towards the Installation and Maintenance Electrician Level 3 Standard.
You must be 18 years of age by 7 September 2026 to be eligible for this scheme.
Please be advised that should you be successful in getting an offer for this apprenticeship, your offer will be subject to a satisfactory medical which may include drugs and alcohol screening, hearing test and eyesight tests including Ishihara Plates and Colour Assessment and Diagnosis tests to determine colour deficiency.

The role of a London Underground engineering apprentice is critical to ensuring the ongoing performance and safety of our tube network. You’ll be at the forefront of developments while maintaining legacy assets across the network.

What will I be doing?
Apprentices will learn from experienced staff through placements across the organisation to gain a broad spectrum of knowledge through hands-on learning.
Power – LV Cables
As an LV Cables Apprentice, you will work with teams that ensure LV Cables assets are maintained and delivered into service safely and on time. You will be placed across a range of departments within the LV Cables area to experience how the LV Cables Division functions. You will learn to read Electrical and Mechanical Drawings, write reports, fault find, and understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for termination and connection of conductors, cables and cords in electrical systems.
On completion, you will become a Qualified Electrician and an LV Cable Jointer, with the opportunity to work towards becoming an IRSE Licensed Electrical Traction Distribution Technician.
Working within the Power Delivery Unit of the Asset Performance Directorate, your role will be to maintain, upgrade and operate power assets, including related fault rectification and support to other units.

This apprenticeship is the start of a long career with many opportunities. On completion, you could move into a Senior Technician role, pursue leadership paths, or other progression within the LV Cables area. Additional training courses (soft skills, safety, technical) may be available.

Throughout the Apprenticeship, you will have opportunities to complete additional training courses. We also have a Graduate and Apprentice Committee and an Alumni group to support learning and career development.
Application Process
Our application system requires all applicants to upload a CV. CVs are used to confirm eligibility criteria; cover letters are not read. The process consists of 5 steps, including online assessments. You will receive information and guidance at each stage. You have 1 week to complete online assessments and we cannot re-issue tests after the deadline.
Assessment centres for apprentice roles run March–May 2026, with in-person and virtual options. Some roles may have only one assessment day.
