A leading transport organization in London is seeking a Pumps & Drainage Apprentice to support the maintenance of critical assets across its network. The ideal candidate will assist in planned maintenance, fault finding, and learn about essential mechanical and electrical systems. This hands-on role offers an exciting opportunity to develop skills while gaining a Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician qualification. Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician
Our Pump Engineers play a vital role inmaintainingand upgrading critical pumping and drainage assets across the network. These systems protect stations, tunnels, lift pits, escalator machineroomsand other key infrastructure from flooding, helping to ensure the safe operation of the railway for passengers and staff.

As a Pumps & Drainage Apprentice, you will support the team in keeping these assets reliable,compliantand operational.
Your work will involveassistingwith planned maintenance, inspections, basic fault finding, repairs and asset checks, while learning how pumping systemsoperateand how they aremonitoredand controlled.
You will develop an understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment, including pump installations, control panels, alarms,sensorsand telemetry/SCADA systems. You will be exposed to both legacy and modern technologies, building the skills needed to help improve reliability, reduce unplannedfailuresand support continuous improvement across the network.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, problem solving, teamwork and working safely in operational environments.
Over the course of your apprenticeship, you will gain the foundationrequiredto progress into a competent Pump Engineer role and support the long-term resilience of the network.

Assessment centres for apprentice roles will take place from March - May 2026, please note that many roles only have 1 assessment day and we are unable to guarantee alternative dates. We are conducting assessment centres in-person and virtually (role dependent).
