About the role

As our Building / Property Surveyor, you ll be the technical lead for insurance-related repairs in your area, ensuring properties are made safe and secure following incidents. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading on Insurance Work: Acting as the first responder to insurance-related repairs, assessing the scope of works, and determining if they meet insurance claim thresholds.
  • Project Management: Overseeing major works from start to finish including pre-inspections, scheduling, budgeting, contractor coordination, and post-inspections.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: Being the key point of contact for residents, locality teams, and external stakeholders. You ll provide regular updates and ensure excellent customer service.
  • Dilapidation & Condition Surveys: Carrying out detailed surveys and reports, with knowledge of leases to manage disputes or external challenges.
  • Alteration Requests: Reviewing major alteration requests from customers, working alongside occupational therapists and local authorities to assess suitability.
  • Maintenance & Repairs Oversight: Conducting inspections, issuing work orders, managing contractors, and overseeing small-scale project works such as environmental improvements.
  • Complaints & Compliance: Investigating complaints thoroughly, responding within set timeframes, and ensuring remedial works are delivered to a high standard.
  • Utility & Survey Coordination: Liaising with utility providers on customer issues and assisting with periodic stock condition surveys.

About you
  • Proven experience in property surveying, maintenance, or repairs management.
  • Strong technical knowledge of insurance-related property works.
  • Experience managing projects, contractors, and external suppliers.
  • Ability to write clear technical reports and communicate complex issues simply.
  • Confidence handling customer complaints and resolving them effectively.
  • Familiarity with housing regulations, leasehold arrangements, and H&S standards.
  • Excellent organisational, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong customer-first approach in everything you do.
