Job summary

A global testing and certification company is seeking a Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor to promote safety and compliance across the organization. This role involves implementing SHE programs, conducting compliance checks, and collaborating on continuous improvement initiatives. Ideal candidates will have a Health and Safety qualification, excellent communication skills, and practical problem-solving abilities. This is a hybrid role, allowing flexibility in location, primarily based in Aberdeen.

Job description
Overview

The Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor will play a key role in ensuring the organisation operates safely through effective planning and support implementation of the company SHE programs. This position requires knowledge of the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) requirements in relation to the organisation. The position sits in the Divisional cluster leadership team and has influence in the SHE objectives to drive consistent improvements in line with the Business Units priorities. This role is Hybrid and can be based Aberdeen/Hitchin/Milan.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure consistent implementation and ongoing execution of organisational SHE policies, programs, practices, and procedures.
  • Conduct compliance checks during laboratory visits through audits, inspections, and performance reviews.
  • Review site SHE practices and collaborate with teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Share best practices, corrective actions, and lessons learned across Cluster laboratories and Divisions.
  • Lead cultural change initiatives to strengthen adoption of the Zero Harm Framework.
  • Facilitate feedback loops to maintain engagement and ensure sustainability of SHE initiatives.
  • Create divisional Improvement Plans based on risk mitigation focusing on the Hierarchy of control principles (Eliminate, Reduce, Substitute, Procedures, PPE).
  • Facilitate cross laboratory best practice and align management systems to enable a consistent approach across the cluster.
  • Encourage outward association with relevant regulatory and subject matter groups to look for new safety improvements.
Skills / Qualifications
  • Proficiency in MS.
  • Proficiency in communication, both written and.
  • Ability to enforce regulations and engage in conflict resolution in a respectful and engaging manner; ability to see both sides of a situation, analyze and resolve safety-related issues.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide evidence-based solutions.
  • Has been working in a Health and Safety role and has a suitable qualification in the discipline.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to complete and understand local Safety, Health and Environmental training.
  • Basic math skills.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Time commitments will vary based on business needs but SHE efforts are to be prioritized. Some travel on occasions to various assigned locations.
