Job summary

A leading water company in Cardiff is seeking candidates for a Finance Apprenticeship. What to expect

Our Finance Apprenticeship brings finance to life through real, hands-on experience from day one. You’ll be part of a supportive finance team, helping to keep our accounts accurate and running smoothly while working towards a professional qualification. From preparing reports and analysing financial data to supporting audits and working with colleagues across the business, you’ll build practical skills, confidence and insight into how finance supports our customers and communities every day.

As part of this apprenticeship (approximately 3 years), you will study AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualifications which provides a unique chance for you to develop the qualities and skills to excel in your career.

You will need an English GCSE (or equivalent) at grade C or above plus either three A levels (one of them Maths) or equivalent.

Responsibilities
  • To support the finance team in delivering accurate accounting, reporting and control, while developing practical finance skills and working towards a professional qualification.
  • Prepare and post journals and accruals.
  • Analyse and reconcile balance sheet codes on SAP ledgers.
  • Prepare various monthly Excel reports for distribution to managers.
  • Analyse and query where necessary data from suppliers, process and upload costing details to SAP.
  • Transactional processing support, including validation checks.
  • Create ad hoc purchase orders in SRM and post Accounts Payable documents and Requests for Payment.
  • Support internal and external audits by retrieving information and documentation.
  • Work with colleagues across Finance and the business to resolve queries.

Starting salary: £26,400

Start Date: All of our apprenticeship and trainee programmes will start on 7th September 2026.
