The role
As our Assistant Management Accountant, you will support the Finance function by assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and providing financial insights to the business. This role is ideal for someone who is part-qualified and looking to develop their skills in management accounting and finance business partnering.
What you'll do
- Manage the company credit cards including checking, analysing, and posting the monthly activity.
- Responsible for the staff expenses process, ensuring claims are checked, analysed, and posted accurately each month.
- Manage and post the company’s cash book transactions.
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Managing and reconciling the company’s petty cash process.
- Assist in cash flow forecasting to support financial planning.
- Support the Finance team in achieving key business objectives.
- Assist in analysing financial variances, helping to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Help maintain the integrity of finance systems and support improvements to processes where needed.
- Provide support in the month-end process and assist with the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts.
- Analyse overheads and compare actual spend to budgets/forecasts, liaising with managers to discuss results and future outlook.
- Assist in Finance Business Partnering by working closely with relevant leaders across the business.
- Participate in stock control, stock counts, and variance analysis.
- Support costing activities for new products and maintain up-to-date pricing for existing products.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting alongside the Head of Finance.
- Help prepare year-end statutory accounts and provide audit support.
- Assist with VAT compliance and interactions with HMRC and other stakeholders on tax matters.
- Provide cover and general support to the Finance team as needed.
- Communicate effectively with various levels of the organisation.
- Uphold company policies, promote VEKA values, and ensure responsible use of company resources.
- Maintain a flexible and positive approach, actively supporting the company's objectives
- Adhere to Health and Safety standards within the workplace.
- Carry out any ad-hoc duties assigned by the Head of Finance.
What you'll need
- Part-qualified accountant (CIMA or equivalent).
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, inquisitive nature.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build effective partnerships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; SAP and manufacturing experience is a plus.
