An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Physiotherapist with Band 5 rotational experience to work within our dynamic team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible physiotherapist ideally with NHS experience, willing to develop skills and knowledge in the management of breast cancer and rehabilitation. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills and be committed to working within a multidisciplinary team. This post will be fully supported by the clinical lead.

The Nightingale and Prevent Breast cancer Centre, based in the South of the city at the Wythenshawe site is Europe’s first purpose-built unit with several key services that integrate a diagnostic and treatment pathway for all breast cancer. The Nightingale Centre offers an integrated physiotherapy service committed to forward thinking patient care, rehabilitation and improving patient outcomes for patients with often complex needs.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is home to the Manchester Breast Service, the largest Breast Oncology service in the country. The service runs across 2 sites serving the population of Greater Manchester and surrounding areas with a national and international reputation for excellence in a high quality supportive and safe environment.

Main duties of the job

To help deliver a comprehensive physiotherapy service to patients in the area of specialty that you are working in.

To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with a diverse and often complex presentation. You will require excellent clinical reasoning to develop and deliver individual treatment programs and plan appropriate discharges, and be able to prioritise to clinical need.

To be responsible for organising and managing your own caseload to meet service need and patient priorities.

Be able to support, appraise and educate more junior staff, rehabilitation assistants and students.

Support your team leaders and deputise as required.

To have excellent communication skills with patients, relatives and be able to show empathy and understanding.

Work as part of the therapy team and wider MDT demonstrating excellent communication skills.

Maintain Confidentiality, dignity and professionalism at all times.

To participate in the weekend and On call rotas as departmental policy.

To maintain your professional standards of practice and codes of conduct and ensure any staff under your supervision maintain these as well.
