Teacher of History
Start Date: September 2026
Tenure: Permanent, full time/ part time (minimum 3 days per week)
Salary: Competitive – based on the Surbiton High School Pay Scale
Surbiton High School is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and inspiring Teacher of History to join our large, dynamic and highly successful department. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a talented teacher—at any stage of their career—to contribute to an ambitious and vibrant school community.
The History Department is well-established team of 4 teachers teaching History at all key stages with some members of the department teaching Politics at A-level. We have an excellent record of academic success at GCSE and at A-level. We regularly have students apply for History and related courses at Oxbridge and enjoy mentoring these students to help ensure success. All students study History in Year 7, 8 and 9. Over 60% of the year group opt to take History GCSE. Both History and Politics are popular A-level subjects.
The History department have run numerous trips to inspire pupils. These include Hampton Court Palace, a battlefields trip, the Imperial War Museum, Berlin and many others. All department members contribute to the rich offering of extra opportunities we afford our pupils.
