A leading underwriting firm in London seeks an Underwriter for their US Professions team. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in underwriting or broking, preferably in professional liability. Thanks to continued significant organic growth, we have an exciting opportunity to join one of the most established Professional Liability teams in London. After winning the ‘All Stars’ award at the inaugural CFC impact awards in 2025 and subsequently the ‘Team Excellence’ award in 2026, the team consistently exceeds expectations to deliver exceptional service and results. They are looking for a high performer to join CFC as they build the underwriting team of the future.
The team are a market leader in providing professional liability solutions for SME businesses, as well as a developing book of middle market and larger accounts. As a team of 22, they insure over 15,000 clients, and consider over 50,000 submissions a year.
As one of the largest professional liability teams in London, who focus on protecting US based clients, this is great opportunity to be exposed to an extensive variety of risks. Whilst professional liability is a core component of coverage, the teams innovative package policies include general liability, cyber and property insurance on one policy form, giving you the ability to gain experience you are unlikely to find elsewhere. Having six unique products, for a range of professional service firms from engineers to contractors to miscellaneous professional firms both in the traditional and emerging sectors, the opportunities to learn and develop are endless.
As an underwriter on the US Professions team, you will work on key aspects of the underwriting journey, including new business and renewal underwriting, responding to broker queries, managing portfolios and driving broker development.
In this role you will be underwriting and working with brokers from day one, but training and support will be provided with other underwriters and managers on the team to understand the products on offer, appetite and broker base.
We’re looking for a driven individual who strives to achieve high performance. You will enjoy working in a team environment and will be keen to both continue developing your skill set and share experience with junior members of the team. The candidate should have at least 3 years of underwriting or broking experience in a professional liability (E&O) role, preferably with multi-class underwriting exposure. Experience with insuring US business, would be an advantage but not a necessity, we will consider people with a keen interest to get experience in this market too.
You will have a sales focus, but also be proficient in problem solving. Strong numerical skills and attention to detail will help drive data lead decisions. You should have a strong work ethic and be comfortable communicating and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
