Overview

Personal Assistant – Permanent - £49,000

Join us and be part of a mission-driven, independent publisher. You’ll work with a diverse group of people who share a passion for empowering researchers, educators, and institutions to shape the future.

About Sage

Sage is a global academic publisher of books, journals, and library resources with a growing range of technologies to enable discovery, access, and engagement. Believing that research and education are critical in shaping society, Sara Miller McCune founded Sage in 1965. Today, we are controlled by a group of trustees charged with maintaining our independence and mission indefinitely.

Our guaranteed independence means we’re free to:

  • Do more – supporting an equitable academic future, furthering disciplines that drive social change, and helping social and behavioural science make an impact
  • Work together – building lasting relationships, championing diverse perspectives, and co-creating resources to transform teaching and learning
  • Think long-term – experimenting, taking risks, and investing in new ideas
About our Team

This role sits at the heart of our Global Sales & Marketing function, a team that champions our authors, partners, and customers across the academic publishing landscape, ensuring our research, learning solutions, and digital products reach the communities who rely on them. By nurturing connection, communication, and continuous learning, we foster a vibrant, inclusive environment where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to perform at their best.

Could you be our new Personal Assistant?
  • Experienced in supporting multiple senior leaders, with a track record of managing complex, fast paced diaries across several time zones and keeping priorities aligned.
  • Consistently proactive in your communication, providing timely updates, following through on actions, and giving stakeholders confidence that nothing is missed.
  • Skilled at anticipating needs, asking thoughtful questions, spotting gaps, and identifying ways to streamline processes or improve efficiency.
  • Adaptable and solutions focused, able to shift between tasks, step outside your day to day remit, and stay calm in a changing environment.
  • Motivated by impact, ensuring leaders can focus on strategic work because you’ve created clarity, structure, and momentum behind the scenes.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid global environment, including regular in office collaboration with London based leaders and flexible remote support for US based leaders.
Your new role

You will support four senior leaders across our Global Sales & Marketing teams, each with distinct working patterns, time zones, and priorities. Your work will directly enable them to deliver strategic, operational, and commercial objectives.

  • Optimise leaders’ time and focus by managing complex diaries across UK and US time zones, coordinating international travel and visas, and ensuring meetings are purposeful with clear agendas, materials, and follow up actions.
  • Drive operational efficiency through proactive management of expenses, invoices, and POs, and by improving administrative systems, introducing smarter workflows, and finding opportunities for automation.
  • Advance strategic and change initiatives by tracking actions, monitoring progress, and ensuring momentum toward key departmental goals.
  • Strengthen team culture and engagement by planning and delivering internal events (team meetings, connection days, volunteer activities, socials) and supporting select external events such as author webinars and library engagements.
  • Build a connected global community by managing the Marketing blog on Viva Engage, encouraging contributions, sharing updates, and creating visual content that showcases our culture and achievements.
  • Improve information flow by enhancing how documentation, resources, and knowledge are stored and shared across the global Marketing department.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships across the business, engaging and collaborating to support seamless communication and alignment.
Overview of benefits
  • 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) with 2 additional floating personal days.
  • Hybrid working up to 2 days per week in office and a home working allowance.
  • Life assurance, income protection, and travel insurance.
  • Private medical cover and access to the company doctor.
  • Tuition scheme and support for pursuing professional qualifications, including access to Sage books and journals.
  • Variety of snacks and beverages available in the office.
  • Healthy lifestyle reimbursement and anniversary trips.
  • Access to Company loans (season ticket loan, rental deposit loan, cycle loan).
