We have an exciting new opportunity as a Design Manager. Reporting to the Design Business Lead for Waste Networks North, the Design Manager will lead an integrated team of Severn Trent design staff to develop engineering solutions for a wide range of Waste Networks projects.
In other organisations this role may also be known as Capital Projects Team Leader, Flood Risk Manager, Associate Director or similar.
This role will primarily be focused on designing storm water overflow schemes that will be delivered through our Integrated Project Teams with Contractors during AMP8. Our wider programme of work includes sewer flooding, flood partnership, strategic sewerage growth, first time sewerage and capital maintenance schemes and you may be required to manage these projects through your team from time to time.
Directly accountable for a team of design professionals, you will develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and lead a programme of design activity.
In addition, you will need to:
Ideally degree qualified in a related discipline, you will be an experienced leader with strong coaching skills in solution design. You will have experience leading design projects, ideally within a wastewater or surface water management programme.
You will have experience of carrying out the role of Principal Designer Representative with accountability for discharging Principal Designer duties in accordance with CDM regulations.
You will have excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people. You will be a forward-thinking innovator, capable of anticipating challenges and responding to change in a rapidly evolving environment. You will be able to make educated judgments and decisions in the face of ambiguity, and have a good grasp of the bigger picture opportunities to contribute to the wider agenda.
