A leading water and sewage services company in East Midlands is seeking a Project Engineer to manage capital maintenance projects for Waste and Water. The successful candidate will oversee project scope, schedule, finance, risk, and quality, ensuring safety compliance and stakeholder management. They will receive competitive benefits, including bonus schemes, holidays, and pension contributions. A proactive approach and experience in managing multiple projects are essential for this role.
Based out of our Raynesway (Derby) office and reporting to the Lead Project Manager in Technical & Contract Services Team (TCS) within Severn Trent’s Capital and Commercial Services business area, as a Project Engineer you will manage a diverse programme of single stage capital maintenance projects for both Waste and Water, covering either Derby, Nottingham or Leicester region. You’ll see a wide range of site activities including screw pump replacements, pumping station refurbs, settlement tank bridge refurbishments, fitting flow monitors, inlet screens and civils work.
The programme of works is prioritised by risk and funding agreed in collaboration with our Customer Operations teams who own the sites. Some activity comes from proactive programmes of work and is prioritised through our Tactical Asset Planning (TAP) team, so stakeholder management is key throughout the project life cycle.
You’ll be competent in managing the six key aspects of a project: scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality, and resources. Utilising our Framework suppliers/service providers under the MCS process, you will drive project plans, ensure milestone delivery, and maintain safety compliance. Additionally, you will report progress to the Lead Project Manager.
You’ll come equipped with confident communication, great team membership and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive and flexible approach to working, and have excellent planning and organising skills as well as a great awareness of safety, everything we do involves people and process, so we need to stay safe.
Ideally, you’ll be able to demonstrate experience of managing multiple projects or programmes of work at a given time and knowledge of H&S through IOSH managing safely, managing contractors and suppliers and CDM 2015 whilst remaining curious, being courageous, taking care and being proud of what you and the team do. If you are not at that level but you are the right person, we will be happy to support you on your journey to achieve the qualifications.
Being a regional based team, it’s essential you’re able to travel independently to sites to deliver our projects.
