Job description
Finance Lead - Capital Project

location: London

practice area: Charity and Public Sector

job type: Fixed Term Contract

salary: Up to £75,000.00 per annum negotiable

We are seeking an experienced Finance Lead to support a significant capital project focused on an office relocation and redevelopment within a large healthcare organisation. This role will provide dedicated financial leadership across the programme, from early planning through delivery and transition into business‑as‑usual operations.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will be responsible for ensuring strong financial oversight, clear reporting, and robust commercial and cost management arrangements. You will act as a key finance contact for internal stakeholders and external partners, helping to put in place the financial frameworks required to support successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead financial planning, reporting and governance for the capital project, ensuring timely, accurate and meaningful information for senior stakeholders.
  • Develop forecasts and scenario models to assess the financial impact of changes in cost, scope or delivery timelines.
  • Identify and manage financial risks and issues, working closely with the wider project team to develop and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Act as the primary finance interface with external advisors and delivery partners, supporting cost control and value‑for‑money decision making.
  • Prepare financial papers and insights to support executive and board‑level discussions.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, tools and processes to support effective cost management and change control.
  • Support the development of commercial and operational financial arrangements associated with the new office location.
  • Contribute to the transition from project delivery to business‑as‑usual operations, ensuring appropriate financial processes are in place for ongoing facilities and operational costs.
  • Ensure alignment with organisational finance policies, procedures and reporting timetables.
About you

You will be a proactive finance professional with experience of supporting complex projects in a fast‑paced environment, comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders.

You will bring
  • Strong experience in financial business partnering, ideally within capital projects, estates, infrastructure or relocation programmes.
  • Solid understanding of cost management, forecasting and financial modelling.
  • The ability to operate comfortably at all levels, combining strong influencing skills with senior leaders and trustees with a hands‑on, delivery‑focused approach which involves "rolling the sleeves up"
  • The ability to work independently and provide clear, practical financial insight.
  • Experience engaging with external consultants or suppliers.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to present financial information to senior stakeholders including trustees
Qualifications
  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Additional qualifications in construction or project management or experience in project finance, commercial modelling or project delivery are desirable.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in a high‑profile capital project within a healthcare organisation, working collaboratively across finance, operations and project teams to support a transformative project that will enable the strategic goals. In return you'll work with passionate individuals in a supportive and collaborative environment with market‑leading benefits including private healthcare and a bonus and flexile and hybrid working with three days per week required onsite.
