In the heart of Shropshire, we find the bustling town of Shrewsbury, steeped in history with stunning architecture and with a beautiful park dating back to 1719, it is also home to a small but incredibly successful, caring and old school insurance brokerage. Using traditional communication methods including face to face visits and handwritten paper customer records, the proprietor and his long-standing team have built a trusted and valued service offering to their agricultural client base. Ever growing and promoted only by word of mouth they now seek to expand the team with a Customer Service and Account Executive. The individual is required to work from the busy office 4 days per week to be able to support the many incoming customer calls and the 5 th day can be working from home. There is absolutely no requirement for business development in this role - upselling and cross selling are not encouraged either - you are supporting an essential yet struggling sector and therefore finding them the most competitive quote for their needs, providing a high level of customer service or assisting in managing a claims process are priority in this customer focused brokerage. With such a reputation in their field comes a high expectation of their staff, therefore this is a unique position requiring the highest calibre of candidate with a specific skill set and the understanding of the need to operate in a particular way to service the clients THE WAY THEY NEED.

Desirable candidate
  • An insurance background, whether as a claims handler or similar role you should have a good understanding of the insurance and claims process.
  • Acturis - this system provides as central database backing up all client data from the very first quote to claims completion, if a candidate has knowledge or previous usage that is a real plus.
  • Fantastic customer service skills, your customer works 24/7 - they don’t want to send an email, or have time to contact the insured directly by sifting through paperwork to find telephone numbers - they are picking up the phone to you and you need to possess empathy, a proactive disposition and a can do attitude to assist with any question or query they have.
  • Patience and tolerance - to understand that the traditional method of paper customer records used here are simply to aid the continued success and service delivery to the customer. The owner himself can pick up the file, drive to a farm and meet with the customer, paper file in hand and not delay the farmer going about his demanding daily schedule.

Hours

Hours are 35 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm with a 1-hour lunch break.
