We are a thriving independent preparatory school in central London, educating boys and girls from the age of 2 to 13. Guided by our core values of confidence, curiosity, and kindness, we offer a broad, ambitious, and enriching education that combines academic excellence with outstanding pastoral care. As part of the Brighton College family of schools, we benefit from a strong shared ethos while retaining our own distinctive character. In 2025, the school was proud to be named a London Independent School of the Year finalist, reflecting our commitment to innovation, excellence, and pupil wellbeing. Situated beside Exhibition Road, at the heart of London’s scientific and cultural quarter, we make exceptional use of our location to enrich learning and inspire a lifelong love of discovery.

About Cognita: Cognita is a global leader in independent education. Founded in 2004, we are a growing community of 90 schools in 21 countries - in Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East - serving more than 100,000 students. Each of our schools are proudly unique, however our collective purpose is to create an environment where everyone can, ‘Thrive in a rapidly evolving world’.

Role

About the Role: We are seeking a proactive, organised, and enthusiastic STEAM Technician to support practical teaching and learning across Science, Art, Computer Science, Robotics and AI, and wider STEAM-related activities. Working closely with the Head of Science, Head of Art, and Head of Computer Science, Robotics and AI, the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that practical lessons, experiments, creative projects, and technological activities are well prepared, safely delivered, and inspiring for pupils. The role supports both curriculum lessons and enrichment activities and sits at the heart of the school’s commitment to hands-on, interdisciplinary learning. As the STEAM provision continues to grow and moves into new and enhanced facilities, the technician will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of learning spaces, systems, and resources that support innovation, creativity, and collaboration.

This is a permanent, term time only position with a proposed start date in the new academic year in September 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Support science practical lessons, including preparation, equipment management, and safe handling of chemicals in line with health & safety and COSHH requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain resources, equipment, and spaces for art, technology, and STEAM activities, including robotics, computer science, and creative projects.
  • Assist with lessons, workshops, exhibitions, enrichment activities, and interdisciplinary STEAM initiatives.
  • Maintain organised, safe working environments and support the development and effective use of new STEAM facilities.
  • Contribute to stock management, resource organisation, and practical support for events, trips, and clubs.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, follow all school policies, and engage in ongoing professional development.
