Landmarc Support Services is seeking a motivated Team Leader to join our dynamic rural team based at Wathgill Camp and other locations in the North East. In this role, you will lead a group of rural operatives dedicated to the upkeep and maintenance of the Defence Training Estate. Typical tasks will be Track Repairs/Fencing and Wall Repairs/Forestry working including dealing with windblown trees and other various rural tasks to ensure a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces train.

We are looking for a someone with experience working in a rural maintenance industry or leading a high-performing team in a similar environment.

Shifts run between: Monday - Friday between 07:30 and 17:30
Hours of work: 37 per week
Contract: Permanent
Location: Wathgill Camp, Wathgill, Richmond, North Yorkshire, DL11 6AH

Main Responsibilities

To be responsible for coordinating a team as the first line manager by being the first point of contact, task allocation and work checking. This includes conducting work place talks, coordinating annual leave requests, overtime claims, informal Staff management and Performance development progress meetings. Monitoring of rural equipment & materials.

Operations - To ensure that the Rural Training Estate is fit for purpose in accordance with the Training Estate Support Contract. Works include:

  • Operation of rural plant & machinery, including tractors with attachments
  • General rural estate maintenance: Tree works, fencing, strimming, planting, track works, dry stone walling, and other rural tasks
  • Adherence to Health & Safety procedures, including risk assessments, safe systems of work, manual handling, COSHH requirement
  • Reporting defects and other reactive maintenance
  • To complete all relevant documentation utilising both IT and paper-based systems
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience of working in a rural environment
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety protocols, including COSHH, manual handling, and risk assessments
  • Experience working with Chainsaws and other forestry equipment
  • Experience in land-based working
  • Familiarity with estate services, grounds maintenance, and plant machinery operations
  • IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and database management
  • A valid UK manual driving licence is essential for this role
